This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but this is a late Valentine's themed post! I have been busy with work and home stuff, distracted by books... and also I'm lazy, so I've been neglecting my blog. I’m clearly an aficionado of seasonally themed treats and cocktails, so there were enough red and pink heart-shaped treats to keep us feeling frisky for a whole year, I just didn't take the time for photos and writeups. But what the hell, romance doesn't stop on February 14th, so you can still enjoy this drink a week or two late.
This cocktail is inspired by a cocktail called Delia’s Elixir that we get at a local tavern called The Basement in Santa Monica, and is basically a whiskey sour with raspberries - it’s simple, delicious, and sure to set the tone for your romantic evening, be it on the 14th or any other day!
2 oz bourbon
Juice half a lemon
2-3 raspberries, plus more for garnish
Soda Water (as always, I use Lemon La Croix)
Muddle the rasberries and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Add bourbon, simple syrup, and ice and shake until cold. Double strain into a cocktail glass over ice and top with soda to taste. You can double the recipe if you have a date.
